6. FILM CHALLENGES:
- News from the 48 Hour Film Challenge screening in Leeds, where they showed the films in the same running order as the Brighton screening: 20-25 people attended, and a few of the cast/crew from BBC's Frankenstein Wedding came in and watched the films while eating their dinner. A good start and everyone enjoyed the films and are looking forward to the next challenges !

-We have been approached by Spindle magazine, a quarterly free arts Brighton based mag. Covering art, fashion, photoghraphy etc and in each issue they included a 'Ones To Watch' section. For their May issue they are considering featuring filmmakers from The Filmmakers Coalition. Please submit your details for us to compile and pass on to Spindle Magazine for selection.

Two BFC workshops are running now:

Reading Aloud from a Script
Philippa Hammond, an actor and a trainer specialising in public speaking skills, is offering two ninety-minute workshops for actors, filmmakers and business people who will be reading from a script for audition, performance or public speech-making. The aims of the workshops are to provide participants with a set of foundation skills to improve their sight-reading skills in audition, performance and business situations. It includes dealing with nerves, marking up a script to help you work, making the most of your voice, facial expressions and non-verbal communication to grab and keep audience attention. The workshops will take place in the Studios on Farm Road, Hove and are payable on a donations basis.
Part 1: Preparing yourself and the text: Wed, 16th March at 7.30pm
Part 2: Using the skills in performance: Wed, 23rd March at 7.30pm

Advanced Screenwriting
Gary Mepsted is facilitating his workshop on scriptwriting, every Tuesday at 7.30pm in the Conference Room at the Old College House, 8-10 Richmond Terrace, Brighton. Payable on a donations basis.

- The 2011 Oskar Bright Film Festival is looking for film submissions in time for the deadline on 30th April. The film festival is created and developed by the Brighton-based partner organisations Carousel and Junk TV. It's the world’s first film festival run by, and for, people with a learning disability. The films are screened in Brighton and abroad
