Volunteer Roles in The Filmmakers Coaltion

Roles to be rotated: i.e. on 3 month, 6 month basis etc


Heads
Coordinate and guide every aspect of the coalition and oversee the running of the The Filmmakers Coalition. Take a lead on developing initiatives which then are discussed and decided upon with the group in the weekly meetings and online platforms. Need to encourage members, but also discipline if necessary, in order to maintain a mutually supportive and safe group environment. Help educate and inspire the members to make films by using inclusive leadership practices relating to age, gender, race, ethnicity and sexuality. Regular team meetings and online communication with members, the BFC admin team including all regional teams and external groups. This voluntary role offers the opportunity to further develop leadership skills which reflect the ethos and aims of the group and its members.

Communications Coordinator
Organises and maintains the communication to the wider community via email and press releases which promote the work, film challenges and screenings of the group. Manages the online social networks and website to share relevant information with members. Helps build links with other groups, organisations and businesses identified by our members in a recent online survey. This voluntary role offers an excellent introduction to social media marketing and , and the opportunity to further develop presentation and effective communication skills.


Film Challenge Coordinator
Helps to arrange the scheduling of four challenges throughout the year and promote the spirit of the challenges as an opportunity to share skills and meet other filmmakers through collaboration on a film project. Provides advice and assistance to the member who is setting a specific challenge by providing existing challenge templates and guidelines. Ensures that all members who take part in the challenges are aware of and adhere to the code of conduct as outlined in the group's manifesto. This voluntary role offers an excellent introduction to group events coordination and the opportunity to further develop organisational and communication skills.

Events Coordinator
Liaises and books venues according to the group's needs per event. Considers for the needs of the audience at an event i.e. transport, access, drink deals, equipment. Acts as a link between the venue, group, events hosts and potential performers. Helps to advertise events with the Communications Coordinator and the Heads. Works together with the BFC Technical Coordinator and other technical staff of the venue. Is responsible for all technical rehearsals before the event, as well as the running order and communication on the day of the event. This voluntary role offers an excellent introduction to film events coordination and the opportunity to further develop organisational and production skills.

Treasurer
Responsible for the finances of the group. Need to keep an open record of accounting when money exchanges hands.


Already appointed roles:

Workshop Coordinator - Elena Saorin
Builds a schedule of varied workshops throughout the year which help members learn and grow as practitioners in every aspect of filmmaking and related arts. Responsible for advising members how they can develop a workshop idea in terms of focus, target audience and timeframe. Is the main point of contact for workshop information, bookings and promotion. This voluntary role offers an excellent introduction to filmmaking education via different types of workshops, and the opportunity to further develop presentation and effective communication skills.


Regional Managers - Charley Mason
Helps to back up the Heads and fill gaps when needed and offer advice to other managers and coordinators. They also steward the regional branches of the .


Resources Coordinator - Tim Pieraccini
Archives challenge films and uploads or links challenge films to the youtube channel. Knows who has access to equipment within the group. Facilitates information about local or national organisations that provide affordable equipment for hire.

Website Coordinator - Steven Haw

Maintains and builds new content and information for our websites.

Technical Coordinator - Matt Watering
For events and screenings the Technical Coordinator liaises with the Events Coordinator and technical staff at venues to manage the technical audio/visual side and offer options of how to screen films to their full potential. Needs to be present and provide expert advice during technical rehearsals and on the day of event.
This voluntary role offers an excellent introduction to film events coordination and the opportunity to further develop organisational and technical skills.

Online Editor - Noel Bateman
Proof-reads online texts, press releases and information packs which the respective administrator produces. Provides critical feedback to ensure clear and concise communication to members and wider community.
This voluntary role offers an excellent introduction to copyediting, and the opportunity to further develop presentation and effective communication skills.


No one person is alone they can ask for assistance from other members when and where necessary depending on the needs of what is happening
These roles will at times overlap depending on the nature of what is happening.
Sometimes decisions have to be made by the person in a given role or by the heads to keep things moving that cant always be discussed.
